Untitled Lights

2011

Untitled Lights is an exploration of the act of seeing from a philosophical and dramaturgical perspective. It is influenced by the thinking of biologist Francisco Varela who argues that the brain, through perception, acts as a generator of neural “narratives”, a resonator with the environment, giving rise to cognition. By sculpting negative space with afterimages, or marking apparent emptiness, Untitled Lights seeks the concentration and self-reflection of the viewer.

Project developed during the 2010-2011 Graduate Certificate in Digital Art program in the Department of Design & Computation Arts at Concordia University. It was shown in the year-end group exhibition “Behind The Scenes” in the EV 6.720 space at Concordia.
